This policy explains what information KIWAMU handles, where it is stored, and which third-party services are involved. It describes the app exactly as built in version 1.0.0.
1. Summary
- KIWAMU has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no KIWAMU or Memorvix server. We (Memorvix, the publisher) do not receive your training history; we only see the anonymous statistics described in section 5c, and any email you choose to send us (section 5d).
- Your training progress and settings are stored only on your device.
- KIWAMU shows ads using Google AdMob. When ads are requested, Google may process device information, including your device's advertising identifier, as described below.
- Where the law requires it (for example, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), KIWAMU asks for your consent using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices.
- KIWAMU uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) so that Memorvix can send occasional news and offers as notifications. This uses a device token, not your name or training data, and you can turn these notifications off at any time.
- KIWAMU can send anonymous usage statistics (Firebase Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) so we can improve the exercises and fix problems. They contain no name, contact details or advertising ID, are never used for ads, and can be turned off in Settings → Help improve KIWAMU. Where the law requires consent, statistics are sent only with it.
- All exercises work offline. Without an internet connection, no ads are loaded.
2. Data stored locally by KIWAMU
KIWAMU stores the following on your device using Android's private app storage (Jetpack DataStore). This data never leaves your device through KIWAMU itself.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Current difficulty level and recent-result counters for each exercise | Adaptive difficulty |
| Exercise history: exercise, level, score, accuracy, active time, date and time, guided or practice | Progress, statistics, streaks, improvement comparison |
| Guided-session history: date and time, average score, total time | Weekly goal, session count, achievements |
| Unlocked achievements and the date each was unlocked | Achievements screen |
| Tutorial ("How to play") completion for each exercise | Showing tutorials only the first time |
| Settings: light or dark, app theme, app icon and widget look, high contrast, sound effects, music and music track, haptics, motion effects, weekly goal, onboarding completion, daily reminder on/off and time, whether the reminder invitation has been shown, and which tours and one-time tips have been shown | Your preferences |
| Daily challenge results: date, exercise, level, score, accuracy and time of your first attempt each day (or that the attempt ran out of time) | Daily challenge card and sharing |
| How many times the KIWAMU Master invitation has been shown, and when last; the day the Master card for the last free level was last shown for each exercise | Showing the invitation at most 3 times, and the card at most once a week per exercise |
| Weekly KQ (KIWAMU Quotient) values and the day the streak flame last celebrated | KQ trend on the Progress screen; the flame animation |
| Streak repairs: the restored day and the date of the last repair | Streak and the once-a-week repair limit |
| When the rating card was last shown, when "Rate on Google Play" was last tapped, and recent "Not now" choices | Showing the rating card rarely (at most once every 30 days) |
| An unfinished guided session of the current day: the exercises done so far and their results, and when the "Finish your session" reminder was last shown | Continuing the session where you stopped; showing that reminder at most once a day |
| Advertising frequency counters: number of completed guided sessions and practice challenges, sessions and practice exercises since the last full-screen ad, time of the last full-screen ad | Limiting how often full-screen ads may appear |
| Whether this device's Google account has an active KIWAMU Master subscription, and whether it renews (yes/no values; not included in device backups) | Keeping Master working while offline |
| Whether the KIWAMU Master welcome message and the one-time offer have been shown on this installation | Showing each once |
| A free trial started on this device: its start date, its length and the price after it, and whether its reminder was shown (not included in device backups) | Reminding you 3 days before the trial ends |
| Your answer to the colour-vision question and the "easier colours" setting | Choosing colours that are easy for you to tell apart |
| While an exercise is open: whether its Hint, flash and peek have been used, and the wrong options already tried | Keeping the exercise as it was if Android closes the app in the background; cleared when the exercise ends |
Device backup. If you have enabled Android's backup feature, Android may include the data above in your personal device backup (for example, Google One / Google Drive backup) and restore it when you set up a new device. KIWAMU limits backup to this progress and settings data; advertising and consent SDK storage is excluded. Backups are handled by Google under your Google account settings, not by KIWAMU.
Deleting your data. Use Settings → Reset progress to delete levels, history, streaks and achievements. Uninstalling KIWAMU, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all locally stored KIWAMU data.
KIWAMU does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or any health or medical data (emails you choose to send us are covered in section 5d). KIWAMU is a training app and is not a medical or diagnostic tool.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
KIWAMU uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), provided by Google LLC, to show:
- one banner ad at the bottom of the Home screen, one on the Progress screen below the first skill card, and one at the top of the results of a completed exercise (never during an exercise, and never on the summary of a guided session or in your first guided session). The "Remove ads" link above each banner only opens the KIWAMU Master screen; and
- full-screen (interstitial) ads at natural breaks only: after a completed guided session, and after every second completed individual practice exercise or daily challenge, when you leave its results. Never during an exercise or between the exercises of a guided session. Any full-screen ad starts the count again, so a guided-session ad is never followed by another one after the next exercise;
- optional rewarded ads, only when you choose to watch one: to restore a streak broken by a single missed day (at most once a week), to get 30 more seconds in an exercise, or to peek at all the cards for 2 seconds in Recall Matrix (each at most once per exercise, at any time while playing). Nothing is given unless the ad is watched to the end.
The optional KIWAMU Master subscription (see section 5a) removes the banner and the full-screen ads. The optional rewarded ads stay available to everyone; with Master, +30 seconds and the peek are free, without an ad, twice each in every exercise, and the weekly streak repair happens without an ad.
When an ad is requested, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process information such as:
- the device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID) and, where applicable, the app set ID and Android Privacy Sandbox signals (such as Topics or attribution), subject to your device settings;
- IP address (which may be used to estimate approximate location);
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, and language;
- ad interaction and performance data, such as ad impressions and taps, and diagnostic and crash information related to the SDK.
Google uses this information to deliver ads, measure their performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and, only where you have consented (or where consent is not legally required), to personalize ads. Where consent for personalized ads is not given, Google may serve non-personalized or limited ads.
Google's handling of this information is governed by Google's policies:
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Information about Google Mobile Ads SDK data collection for Google Play's Data safety section: https://developers.google.com/admob/android/privacy/play-data-disclosure
Advertising identifier
The Android Advertising ID is a resettable identifier provided by Google Play services. The Google
Mobile Ads SDK adds the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission so that it can read this
identifier. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android device
settings (typically Settings → Privacy → Ads or Settings → Google → Ads, depending on your
device). KIWAMU itself does not read, store or transmit the advertising ID.
4. Consent management (Google UMP)
KIWAMU uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to request, store and manage your advertising consent choices where required by law (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA and UK).
- When KIWAMU starts, the UMP SDK checks whether a consent message needs to be shown in your region. To do this, it contacts Google's servers and may process your IP address and device information.
- If required, a consent form is shown. Your choice is stored on your device by the UMP SDK (including standardized consent strings such as the IAB TCF string), and is shared with Google and, where applicable, the ad technology providers listed in the consent form, so they can respect it.
- You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices (this option appears whenever privacy options are required for your region).
- No ads are requested until the UMP SDK indicates that ads may be requested. If consent information cannot be obtained (for example, when offline), KIWAMU continues to work normally without ads.
5. Third-party services
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Privacy information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Google LLC | Banner and interstitial ads | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK | Google LLC | Advertising consent | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play services | Google LLC | Required by the ads SDK on Android devices | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play Billing | Google LLC | Optional KIWAMU Master subscription | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play In-App Updates | Google LLC | Offering a newer KIWAMU version from Google Play | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| KIWAMU update file (Firebase Hosting) | Google LLC (hosting for Memorvix) | Reading which KIWAMU version is newest and what changed | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Google LLC | Delivering news and offers notifications sent by Memorvix | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |

| Firebase Crashlytics | Google LLC | Crash reports (section 5c) | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
KIWAMU does not include social-media SDKs, and does not sell personal information.
When it opens, KIWAMU reads a small public file from its own website (https://kiwamu-b253f.web.app/app-config.json) to know whether a newer version exists and what changed, and, when a new version has one, an animated image of what is new from the same website (kept on the device until the next release). Nothing about you or your device is sent with these requests; like any web request, the hosting service briefly sees your IP address. Without a connection, the check is simply skipped. A news notification may also include a picture, downloaded when the notification arrives.
The rating card only opens KIWAMU's page on Google Play; ratings are handled entirely by Google Play, and KIWAMU is never told whether or how you rated it. The daily reminder and the "Finish your session" reminder (shown a few minutes after you leave a guided session before the end, at most once a day and never between 22:00 and 08:00) are created on your device; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. The daily challenge is played without the Hint, the flash or the peek, so every player at a level has the same conditions. Sharing a daily challenge result sends only the image and text you see (date, exercise, level, score, accuracy, time, streak, KQ and a link to KIWAMU on Google Play) to the app you choose. Sharing KIWAMU from Settings → Share & rate sends only a picture of KIWAMU and a link to it on Google Play, never your results, to the app you choose. "Rate KIWAMU" in Settings, like the rating card, only opens KIWAMU's page on Google Play. KQ (KIWAMU Quotient) is calculated on your device from your KIWAMU training; it is an estimate for motivation, not a clinical IQ test.
5b. News and offers notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
KIWAMU uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), provided by Google LLC, so that Memorvix can send occasional notifications about news and offers to all players. To deliver them, the Firebase SDK creates a registration token and a Firebase installation ID for this app installation and sends them, with basic device and app information (such as the app version and Android version), to Google. KIWAMU subscribes the installation to broad groups ("all users", and either "free users" or "Master users" depending on the KIWAMU Master subscription) so a message can be sent to a group; it does not send your training data, name or contact details. Google may also log message delivery information so the sender can see how many notifications were delivered.
You can turn these notifications off at any time in Settings → News & offers (Android notification settings for that category), or by turning off KIWAMU's notifications altogether. Firebase's privacy information: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
5c. Usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics)
To understand how KIWAMU is used and to fix problems, KIWAMU uses two Google services:
- Firebase Analytics receives anonymous events about training: when an exercise starts, ends (score, accuracy, time, whether the Hint or the flash helped), is left early (at which round) or runs out of time (whether +30 seconds or exit was chosen), when a level changes, when a guided session is completed, and when the Hint or the peek is used. Each event carries only the exercise, the level and the mode (guided, practice or daily challenge). Firebase adds an app-instance ID, device and app information (such as device model, Android version, app version, language and country derived from the IP address) and session information.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes: device model, Android version, app version, free memory and disk space, and the technical details of the error.
They contain no name, email, contact details or training history, and the advertising ID is not collected (advertising-ID collection and ad personalisation signals are switched off). This data is used only to improve KIWAMU, never for advertising, and it is not sold.
- Both are off until the app decides they may run. In regions where consent is required (for example the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), statistics are sent only if you agree to measurement in the consent form (Settings → Ad privacy choices). Crash reports are sent to fix errors.
- You can turn both off at any time in Settings → Help improve KIWAMU.
- Google retains Analytics data according to the retention set for the project (at most 14 months) and Crashlytics data for 90 days.
5a. KIWAMU Master subscription (Google Play Billing)
The optional KIWAMU Master subscription is processed entirely by Google Play under Google's terms and privacy policy. KIWAMU never receives your payment details. The app only asks Google Play whether the signed-in Google account has an active subscription and whether it renews (and acknowledges a completed purchase, as Google Play requires). It stores those answers on the device so Master keeps working when you are offline. When you start a free trial, KIWAMU keeps its start date, length and the price after it on the device to remind you 3 days before it ends (as a notification if notifications are on, otherwise in the app). Use Settings → KIWAMU Master → Restore purchases to recover the subscription on a new device or after a reinstall, and Manage subscription (Google Play) to change plan or cancel.
5d. Emails you send us (Help & support)
Settings → Help & support opens your own email app with a message to memorvix@gmail.com: Report a problem, Suggest an idea, or Business & partnerships. Nothing is sent until you press send in your email app. To help us fix problems, a problem report starts with the app version, your device model and Android version; you can see and change this text before sending. When you send an email, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them only to reply and to improve KIWAMU, never for advertising, and we do not share or sell them. We keep emails only as long as needed to handle your message; ask us at any time to delete them.
6. Permissions
KIWAMU asks for one runtime permission, and only when you choose to turn on the optional daily reminder (KIWAMU explains the reminder first; the Android dialog appears only if you tap TURN ON):
POST_NOTIFICATIONS(Android 13 and later) — to show the daily reminder and news and offers notifications. If you decline, no notifications are shown and nothing else changes.
The following normal or install-time permissions are added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and are used only for advertising and consent:
INTERNETandACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— to request ads and consent information;com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID— to read the advertising identifier;ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID,ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION,ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS— to use Android's Privacy Sandbox ad-services APIs on devices that support them, subject to your device's ad-privacy settings;WAKE_LOCK— used by the SDK's background work scheduling.com.android.vending.BILLING— added by the Google Play Billing Library, used only for the optional KIWAMU Master subscription;RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED— lets Android's WorkManager keep the optional daily reminder scheduled after the device restarts;com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE— added by Firebase Cloud Messaging to receive news and offers notifications.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics need no additional permissions.
Haptic feedback uses Android's built-in touch-feedback mechanism and does not require the vibration permission.
7. Children
KIWAMU is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed to children or teenagers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. The ad requests made by KIWAMU are not tagged as child-directed, and ad content is limited to a Teen (T) maximum rating.
8. Data security and retention
Locally stored data is kept in KIWAMU's private app storage, which other apps cannot access on a standard Android device. It is retained until you reset your progress, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Data processed by Google is retained according to Google's policies linked above.
9. Your rights
Because KIWAMU does not hold your data on any server, you can access, correct or delete your training data directly in the app (Progress screen, Settings → Reset progress) or by uninstalling the app. For data processed by Google in connection with ads, you can use your consent choices (Settings → Ad privacy choices), your device's advertising ID controls, and the controls described in Google's privacy policy. If you have questions or wish to exercise rights under applicable law, contact us at the address above.
10. Changes to this policy
If KIWAMU's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app's Google Play listing.
